Pioneer Press - Twin Cities, IN MEMORY OF MY BROTHERALBERT R. FISCHBECK 1st Lieutenant KIA 8/20/24 to 3/6/45 Dear Al: Mom, Dad and you are all deceased from our immediate family, with only me left. I sure miss you even after all these 69 years. You were only 20 years old when you were killed in WWII. I still remember the morning the telegram came March 15, 1945. I was only 11 years old, but it is still so clear in my mind. I always think back to what it would have been like if you had lived. You were so smart and handsome with a great personality. Today I was going through the box that Mom had saved. It had some of your "E" mail letters, cards, telegrams and even pictures from Germany. General George S. Patton, 3rd Army Commander was buried only 100 yards from you in the Hamm Luxemburg Military Cemetery. We have pictures of your graves. General Patton wanted to be buried with his troops and in 1946 I read that over 200,000 people came to see his resting place among all the rows of his soldiers. In March 1947, General Patton was moved to a more open position in the cemetery. Your friends Mr. & Mrs. Veron from Homecourt France made visits to your grave and put flowers on it and sent pictures to Mom. They wrote to her for many years. In 1950 we brought you back to Minnesota where we can visit your grave and say a prayer. I still miss you and love you so much. You will never be forgotten. Love Your Sister, Pat (Fischbeck) Lyons
