The Blade, Vi Urbaniak 3-4-1916 ~ 10-2-05 ONE INCREDIBLE WOMAN 100th Birthday Tribute Anyone who ever knew my mother-in-law, Vi Urbaniak, would agree that she was one incredible woman. She was loving and kind. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She gave of herself, not only to her family, but to her church, as well as her community. Though she was 89 years of age, she had boundless energy. I always called her the Proverbs 31 woman. She was very wise and incredibly gifted in many areas of her life. She had flower and vegetable gardens. She would can and freeze the vegetables. She could sew, crochet, quilt, paint and create rag rugs on an old loom, which sat out in her garage. She made many a Christmas ornament and frames, as well as other crafts, with plastic canvas and yarn. She worked, tirelessly, on the rummage sales for her church. She worked for 30 years on the elections. She donated countless hours of volunteer service with the RSVP. She would work at the Bedford Senior Center during the Bazaar, and the Strawberry Festival, each held annually. She traveled. She enjoyed family, friends and life in general. Not a moment of her life was wasted. She never had an enemy. Everyone she met, instantly, became her friend. I fondly remember our wonderful times from the past. Most especially the holidays. She used to put together the biggest Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners I had ever seen! I would ask her why she prepared so much food. She would reply, because I dont want to have to cook for the next week. I would laugh and tell her that, with all of this food, Ma, you wont have to cook for the next month! She created so many wonderful memories for her children, grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. She is greatly missed by her family and friends. Many of whom feel robbed of her presence. Though she was 89 years chronologically, she was truly young at heart. Those of you who knew her were blessed. Those of you who didnt, missed out on one of lifes greatest blessings.
