San Antonio Express-News, ESTEVAN T. PENA March l2, 1924 - Feb. 24, 20ll VICKIE G. PENA October 17, 1928 - March 29, 2012 We cou1dn't have asked for better parents Estevan and Vickie Pena raised 9 children with love, caring and a belief that we could be whatever we wanted to be if we worked hard enough . Our parents had a strong work ethic, they both were raised with the same principles that their parents used to guide them through the hard times during the depression era. During our teen years and on our summer vacations, they would load us up and drive us up to Michigan to help pick vegetables and fruit, we were a great team! When we returned back to San Antonio, the Pena family always brought back plenty of cash, we all had such a wonderful time working together and having nice new clothes to wear back to school. Our parents taught us that by working together we could accomplish many things in life. Estevan and Vickie Pena scarified a lot for each of us, sometimes holding two jobs to make ends meet when things were very tight financially. Back in the late 60's and early 70's we were all young teenagers growing up with lots of needs, and somehow our parents managed. Looking back we can only wonder how did they do it? Our parents struggled but they knew that it was their responsibility in raising us the best way that they could, and so they did. Today as we prepare to celebrate and honor our mother's life and the first anniversary of her passing, we do so with lots of memories of growing up in our large home, remembering her good cooking, and all the wonderful times and memories that we all shared with her. May God bless Estevan and Vickie Pena May they rest in peace. From the Children of ESTEVAN & VICKIE PENA .
